  • Let's go to the beach!⁣ ⛱⠀ .⁣⠀ It's gonna be 50 degrees tomorrow, and pretty sure after the winter we've been having it's going to feel like beach weather!⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ What are you doing to enjoy this March "heat wave"? 😜⁣
  • Celebrating International Women’s Day with my two favorite ladies!⠀ .⠀ These two have the sweetest bond. 💕⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ Now that Sophie's finally developing her own personality, Evelyn loves making her giggle, teaching her how to play with toys, and reading her books.⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ Evelyn has no idea that Sophie is different from other babies. I'm sure my heart will break the day she asks why Sophie isn't crawling or walking like her other friends' baby brothers and sisters.⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ But right now, she’s just sweet baby sister Sophie; no different from anyone else. And I love that.
  • Do you have a Montessori kid?⁣ 📚🖍⠀ .⁣⠀ I won't lie, I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about the Montessori philosophy. ⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ But from the moment we toured our neighborhood Montessori school, watching all the kids doing their "work" so quietly and orderly, I knew we needed to get Evelyn in there asap!⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ She's been in Montessori preschool for 8 months now, and we've seen such a change in her independence and helpfulness!⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ It's also teaching us to take a step back as parents and let her take charge of her own work. It's super hard for the type A parent in me who hates to see a mess or always wants to jump in and teach her the "right way" to do things.⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ So it's been a learning experience for the whole family!⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ Do you have a Montessori kid? How has it changed the way you parent?⁣⁣⠀
  • Not pictured: the tantrum Evelyn threw on the staircase while more and more people lined up, waiting for her to finish so they could take their own photo. 📸⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ Embarassing? Nawwww. That's just Tuesday for us.⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ Still, ornery children or not, Castillo de Chapultepec (the only royal castle in the Americas) is totally worth the hike up the hill for it's amazing murals like this + epic views over all of Mexico City!⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ ➡️ Do you take your kids to art galleries and museums? ⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ It's something we usually only do on exception, because the thought of keeping them quiet stresses me (and them) out!⁣
  • Well, all good things must come to an end...⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ We're back in freezing Omaha where a foot of snow was waiting for us on our car when we returned. 😫 And still, it just WONT. STOP. SNOWING!!!⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ I'm really starting to wonder why it is we live here? 🤔 I think we need to start planning a mass exodus south with all of our friends and family.⁣⠀ .⁣⠀ Do you live somewhere warm year-round? Where should we go?⁣
  • 1. YEAR. OLD! 🎂🎉⠀ .⠀ Holy moly. This year has gone both so fast and incredibly slow at the same time.⠀ .⠀ We have shed a lot of tears and made a lot of great memories too.⠀ .⠀ Even though Sophie's not crawling or walking, I want everyone to know how hard this girl works for every achievement she makes, big or small. ⠀ .⠀ All those things other kids "just do"? Sophie has to teach herself with months and months of practice. How to hold toys, how to reach for things, how to chew, how to roll...⠀ .⠀ Now that Sophie is 1, we’ll be ramping up all of her therapies. Physical, occupational, feeding, speech, vision - you name it, she'll be working on it. With help, we hope to see her reach lots more of those big milestones this year.⠀ .⠀ But make no mistake, there's more to life than therapy. So we'll continue traveling as much as we can in between to keep showing Sophie the world. 🌎
  • PRO TIP: when you're in a foreign country and having trouble completing a seemily easy task, just swallow your pride and ask for help. 🥺⠀ .⠀ We searched every pharmacy, Sanborns, corner store, and grocery store in Mexico City to find diapers for Sophie. After the 10th store, I was beginning to think they didn't exist! ⠀ .⠀ So we asked. ☝🏻 And the nice lady at the pharmacy was more than happy to help direct us to the right store, less than 5 minutes away. After an all day search, we finally had our Huggies in hand!⠀ .⠀ (and PS - if you're ever in Mexico City needing baby items, don't waste your time and head straight to Farmacia del Ahorro!💊)⠀ .⠀ ➡️What seemingly simple task at home have you found way more difficult while traveling??
