Baby Style: Packing for Mexico

Ah! Our trip to Mexico is coming up quick!

To say I’m excited would be an understatement, but I’m also freaking out a little bit! Planning and packing for Mexico has brought up a whole new host of questions on the already complicated task of traveling with a baby. How will we get around when we need a carseat, how can we make sure Evelyn is getting enough milk and water, why didn’t I study up more on my basic level Spanish??

Luckily most of those bigger issues have been solved (minus the Spanish part…still a bit worried about that). But the real stress as of late has come with even more important details: what will we wear??

As someone who really does not enjoy shopping for clothes, there are two things I can deal with: online shopping and baby clothes shopping. If I must buy clothes, at least let it be on my couch, perusing the latest in microfashion from my computer. I’ve spent far more time focusing on Evelyn’s wardrobe than my own, that’s for sure.

So the suitcases are out, outfits hanging in the closet, and I think we are almost ready to start packing for Mexico.

Here are a few of my favorites that will be coming along for Evelyn’s most stylish trip to the Riviera Maya!

What to Pack

The trickiest part was balancing clothing options with the weather: keeping cool, while also protecting Evelyn’s pale skin from the harsh Riviera Maya sun. We’re combatting this first with LOTS of sunscreen. (Yes, I’ve packed 3 bottles!) I bought two swimsuits for Evelyn (she’s so chic), one that has a long-sleeve rashguard to keep her arms and shoulders covered up, and another that I plan to pair with this long-sleeve button down while she’s playing on the beach. And of course, a sun hat is a must.

The rest of the outfits are pretty lightweight, and I tried to make use what still fits her from summer while perusing sale racks to fill in the gaps. I’ll be packing a couple pairs of long leggings to protect her legs from the sun, and a couple of sun dresses for our nice dinners out at the resort.

For shoes, I decided to go with this pair of TOMS because 1) how stinking cute are they? and 2) they’re neutral color will match just about everything. Finding a pair of white sandals in the fall when stores have pretty much all but abandoned them was hard, but I managed to find these on Amazon and they seem to be pretty comfy on Evelyn’s feet.
